The Elf Himself Fund

Sweet Elf defied the odds from the very beginning. Elf came to Kitten Rescue as one of a days old litter of seven -- the seven dwarfs. The awful kitty killer, Panleukopenia, struck and one by one, his siblings died. Little Elf triumphed, but was left all alone. As a result of his battle, he was also left with cerebellar hypoplasia, aka "wobbly kitty syndrome."

When Waverly McTinybeans's mom met Elf, she knew instantly that he belonged in her household. Even before she knew he was wobbly she knew he was meant to be hers. The wobble just sealed the deal.

For nine far too brief months, Elf has shown that "Special Needs" is much more about being special than needing. Every cell in Elf's little body oozed sweetness, innocence, and a beautiful curiosity. He loved everyone he met. He looked at each arriving foster kitty as his new best friend -- and he was always right. There wasn't a creature out there that didn't respond to the love that emanated from Elf's very soul.

The world -- and Waverly's home -- will be an emptier, quieter place without Elf barreling with joyous, chaotic, enthusiasm down the hallway for breakfast, play time, or just to see who arrived at the door. Elf relished every aspect of his too short life.

The Elf Himself Memorial Fund for Special Needs Kitties will honor the memory of this remarkable soul by providing Kitten Rescue funds to ensure that future Elfs have the resources they need to show just how special they are.
