Friends!

I am running in the 2018 LA Marathon again to raise money for Kitten Rescue. This year, my run is specially dedicated to Molly, who I adopted from KR in 2010 along with her foster brother, Frankie. Molly was recently diagnosed with cancer. Before this, I had debated whether I wanted to run again. This was a difficult year which really sucked the joy out of running. But, as hard as it is to get up and run, raising money in Molly's memory to help save animals like her is motivation.

Molly was found in a parking lot in West LA with a severely infected eye. She was given to Kitten Rescue, which paid for her eye surgery. When I adopted Molly, she was about six months old and full of a fearless personality. Three years ago, Molly broke out through a temporary window which was ajar in the middle of the night and got into a fight with a coyote - and won! Incredibly, Molly survived multiple bites and an infection.

Molly's challenge now is to battle cancer. This week she suddenly became lethargic, and a large mass was discovered in her chest. That mass is either lymphoma or thymoma. Lymphoma is fatal, but with chemo cats may survive for nearly 3 years. Thymoma is treatable with surgery. Whichever it is, Molly will be well cared for till the end by her momma. (As a note, your donations do not go to Molly's care - she is my responsibility)

Kitten Rescue saved Molly, and they save thousands of cats just like her. This year, the money you donate will be used to create an adoption center which will be open 7 days a week to house and show cats for adoption. The money donated in previous years created the nursery, where new moms and their babies stay before they go to foster homes. Last year I fostered the nursery's first residents, mom Phoebe and her kittens Monkey, Alice, Max and Pawpaw. Kitten Rescue also has a sanctuary where cats which who are not in a foster situation stay.

Please help Kitten Rescue save animals and donate today!

Kitten Rescue is a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and placement of homeless animals. Each year they rescue over 1,000 cats (and some dogs!) from the streets and city shelters and place them into new homes. Kitten Rescue is on the forefront of making Los Angeles a No-Kill City and they will not stop until all of the shelters are empty and every animal has a loving home.

Kitten Rescue is comprised of dedicated volunteers who devote much of their time to helping homeless animals, while juggling their own families, jobs and lives as best as they can! At any given time you may find them bottle feeding orphaned kittens, nursing sick cats and dogs to health, visiting high-kill shelters to save animals, running back and forth to veterinary clinics, trapping community cats for spay/neuter, feeding community cats, taming feral kittens, rehabilitating animals with behavioral issues, taking foster animals to adoption events, or delivering animals to their forever homes.

The Kitten Rescue Sanctuary is home to up to 150 special needs cats and around 1000 animals are cared for in foster homes at any given time. In 2016 Kitten Rescue opened the Kitten Rescue Nursery, where they bottle feed orphaned, unweaned kittens around the clock.
