Leilani was a stray kitten who found her way to Kitten Rescue via a good samaritan. As soon as her foster mom held her, she felt that there was something wrong with her chest, but she acted normal in every way.

As time went on Leilani began to breathe rapidly, so her foster mom took her to the vet, who diagnosed her with Pectus Excavatum, a rare congenital deformity of the chest bone that was causing problems with the growth of her heart and lungs due to a compressed rib cage. The vet referred her to a surgical specialist at ASEC , who performed surgery to release the malformed cartilage of the sternum and then stitched an external brace to her chest to help it grow into the proper position.

Leilani will need to recover in foster care for two months, until her brace can be removed. She will require several weeks of post surgical care and veterinary visits. Then she can get spayed and can be adopted into her forever home. Leilani has a promising future ahead of her, which would not have been possible without this surgery.

Leilani's surgery and treatment is estimated to cost $2800.00. Please help Kitten Rescue give Leilani the life that she deserves, by making a tax-deductible donation towards her surgery.

Thank you for helping Kitten Rescue save the forgotten felines of Los Angeles!
